The Lithuanian Supreme Administrative Court has reaffirmed that the permit for the Kazokiškės landfill near Vievis was issued illegally, so it has been revoked

The complaint against the operation of the Kazokišk ės landfill was put forward by the Kazokiškės community and Vilnius branch of the Lietuvos Sąjūdžio movement. An appeal was made over the integrated prevention and control permit for pollution, which allowed the operation of Vilnius County regional municipal waste landfill, issued by the Vilnius Regional Environmental Protection Department.

According to the petitioners, this permit was issued without following the environmental impact assessment procedure.
