Signer of Lithuania's act of independence and independent financial analyst Valdemaras Katkus revealed on a Lithuanian Radio and Television show that Lithuania does not fulfill the Maastricht criteria. To hide this, the country's government, according to him, embellished the 2014 budget and did not include one billion litas debt which must be returned to pensioners.

The expert stressed that when Lithuania joins the euro zone it will go into a worse exchange mode and will have to become a creditor and provide one billion litas to the euro stabilization fund, as well as assume 8. 5 billion litas in credit obligations for the debt of other countries, which makes up about half of Lithuanian budget’s revenue.
