Former President Roland Paksas, who was removed from office, is getting closer to getting into the presidential election

The Lithuanian Parliament has approved the law which provides for a ban from being elected President of the Republic or a Member of Parliament or being given the post of Prime Minister or Minister for eight years for a person removed from office by the parliament in impeachment proceedings or from a post for gross violation of the Constitution or oath of office. Rolandas Paksas was removed from his post as Lithuanian President by impeachment in 2004.
